Kadai Tofu

I am an ardent fan of Paneer..... but when health issues popped in, there popped out a thought that paneer on a regular basis is not recommended. But once in a way...... its a big OKAY (atleast for me!!!!!) After googling a replacement for paneer, I found TOFU which had similar look and feel of paneer but it weighed heavily on the health basis though there was a certain amount of compromise on its taste. This is a paneer recipe in which tofu took its place.... Try it out and you will never regret it!!!!

You will need..........
  • 500 gm of Tofu cubed
  • 1 onion cubed
  • 2 capsicums cubed
  • 2 large tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 3 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp of curry powder (or garam masala)
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp of kasoori methi
  • 1 tsp of coriander seeds
  • A bunch of coriander leaves finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp of oil

Get going..........

Heat a kadai with oil and temper it with coriander seeds followed by the ginger garlic paste. Throw in the cubed onions and saute until they become transparent. Then add in the tomatoes along with all the spice powders. Let the raw smell leave and the tomatoes turn mushy. Now add in the cubed capsicum and saute it making sure to retain its colour and crunchiness. Then top it up with crushed methi leaves. Add in the cubed tofu along with half a cup of water and required salt. Cook until the tofu is coated well with the masala and the water has dried up. Garnish it with coriander leaves and now your kadai Tofu is ready!!

Enjoy your Kadai Tofu with warm jeera rice or chapathi!!!!!!
