Semiya Pulao

'If  something happens in your life, it just happens.... why should it mean something?' -What a wonderful line!! Isn't it? This is from the 'Life of Pi'....It was so astounding, and it made me wonder.....that if only we could stop the search for meanings, for all the happenings in life...... how happy could we be? That is the most blessed way you can ever live....Am I sounding too philosophical?? Ok then, we'll move on to today's recipe....

Semiya..... does this ingredient fascinate you?? Though not me, definitely!!! But this is one dish I would always love to have... The original recipe lies here... Just give it a try and I swear, this would have a lot of repeats....

You will need..........

Semiya - 1/2 cup
Peas - 1/4 cup
Onion - 1/2 (chopped)
Tomato - 1/2 (chopped)
Green chilly - 1 (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Peanuts - 2 tbsp
Oil - 3 tsp

Heat a pan with 1/2 tsp oil and roast the semiya until it turns golden brown. (You can just skip this step if using roasted semiya) Transfer it to a plate. In the same pan bring two cups of water to boil. Add the peas and cook until tender. Remove and then add the roasted semiya. Cook until it turns soft. It would hardly take 3-4 min. Drain them and spread over a plate with 1 tsp oil.

Now heat a kadai with the remaining oil. Temper it with mustard seeds and peanuts.Roast the peanuts until they turn golden brown.Throw in the turmeric powder and hing along with salt. Add green chilly and onion. Mix well. Saute it for a min until the onions turn translucent. Then add the tomatoes along with peas and coriander powder. Cook for 3-4 mins. Gently add in the semiya and coat them with the masala. Cook for about 2 mins. Switch off the stove. Add in the lemon juice.Garnish with coriander leaves if desired.

Enjoy them warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
